Bexley Green Party will be supporting Divest Bexley at a rally to show that we do not agree with the Council's policy of investing millions in polluting fossil fuel companies, and we no longer want our Council Tax subsidising companies like Shell and BP whose business models are directly causing dangerous climate change. Lobby Teresa Pearce MP for a fairer voting system

Our good friends at the Make Votes Matter campaign have arranged a meeting between Teresa Pearce, MP for Erith and Thamesmead and local supporters of electoral reform (campaigning for a proportional representation voting system, so that every vote counts in general elections, and that political parties are represented in proportion to the number of votes they get).

It will be an informal meeting where a case will be made for the proportional representation system to encourage Erith and Thamesmead's MP to formally commit to support electoral reform.

Bexley Green Party members can volunteer to be Counting Agents during e-counting of the votes.  Counting Agents observe the counting procedure and can raise concerns.  There will be up to seven Counting Agents from Bexley Green Party and Bromley Green Party, accompanying Bexley and Bromley constituency's London Assembly candidate Roisin Robertson, her guest and our Election Agent.

#FairFares Policy Launch

On this day, local parties across London will be handing out postcards on Green Party fares policy outside train/tube stations, to reach as many people as possible on the day TfL increase their fares. Come along if you'd like to help offering postcards to commuters. No conversation required!

The Old Farm Park sell-off, part of a wider sell-off of Council-owned Green spaces in Bexley, is set to be discussed by councillors at this meeting.

Come along and join a Green Party team at Eltham GPO's weekly pub quiz.  The quiz starts at 8pm, but we'll be there from 6.30pm to enjoy some tasty pub food, drinks and conversation.  Family, friends and prospective members are welcome to join one of our teams.

Bexley Green Party Founding Meeting

Until now, Green Party membership and activity in Bexley fell under the administration of Bromley Green Party.  At this meeting, we will officially mark the creation of Bexley Green Party, by ratifying our constitution, voting members into comittee positions and sewing the seeds of local campaigns.

Sponsored Walk

Members of Bexley Green Party and Bromley Green Party will be raising money via this annual sponsored walk.  Non-member supporters, family, friends, children and dogs are welcome to join!  It will be a good chance to chat, discuss policies and give out leaflets.  We will stop for lunch at Seven Stars pub, Footscray, but you can bring a packed lunch if you prefer.

Divest Bexley launch event

Bexley Green Party members have been warmly invited to the launch of Divest Bexley, a campaign group set up and run by local residents demanding that Bexley Council divests (disinvest) from its investments in fossil fuels.  Divest Bexley is part of the international Divest movement.

EGM to create Bexley Green Party

Green Party activity in Bexley currently falls under the administration of Bromley Green Party.  At this meeting, the result of the ballot of Bexley residents (which voted 25 to 1 in favour of creating a separate local Green Party for Bexley) will be ratified by a vote.

The EGM will form part of a standard Bromley Green Party meeting.  

Bromley Green Party meetings take place every two months.  They are a fantastic way for you to meet other friendly, like-minded members, hear about what’s happening locally, and get involved in campaigns.

Bexley Against River Crossings (BARC) meeting

In the autumn, Transport for London will be putting forward proposals for new Thames crossings at Gallions Reach (Thamesmead) and Belvedere (Cob Roundabout), which will increase congestion and pollution in Bexley.  Please come along to discuss your concerns and review a draft letter to Bexley councillors.  Members and non-members are welcome.  Please note that this meeting has not been organised by the Green Party.
