Ballot open: vote to create a local Green Party for Bexley

13 August 2015

Plans to create a local Green Party for Bexley continue, with a ballot of Green Party members resident in Bexley due to take place 14 to 28 August 2015.

Green Party members resident in the London Borough of Bexley are currently part of Bromley Green Party.  Throughout July and August, a number of active Bexley residents held planning meetings open to all members resident in Bexley, with the aspiration of creating a separate local Green Party for Bexley.  This aspiration was due to an increased number of active members within the last year, combined with a desire to focus on local issues, including the sell-off of council-owned green spaces and proposals for new Thames crossings which will bring more congestion and pollution to Bexley.

All members who are resident in the London Borough of Bexley will be invited to take part in a ballot to vote on whether they are in favour of the creation of a Bexley Green Party, as follows:

14 August:  E-mail ballot invites will be sent to members who have functioning e-mail addresses.

14 August:  Postal ballot papers will be sent to members who do not have functioning e-mail addresses.

28 August:  Deadline for ballot responses to be recieved.  E-mail deadline: midday.  Postal deadline: that day's post delivery will be the last postal votes counted.

9 September:  Results will be announced at the Bromley Green Party meeting.  If the majority of Bexley residents have voted in favour of the creation of Bexley Green Party, a final vote will take place during this meeting.
