Above: Green Party 2016 London election candidates Roisin Robertson (Assembly Member candidate) and Sian Berry (Mayoral candidate).
We were thrilled to welcome Sian Berry, Green Mayoral candidate, to Old Farm Park today to chat with local residents at Old Farm Park.
On hearing of the sale of Bexley Council's decision to sell most of Old Farm Park last week, Sian said:
'I am dismayed at Bexley councillors' final decision to sell off most of Old Farm Park, Bexley, an important Green space.
'Like the many local people who signed the petition opposing the sale I'm very concerned by this permanent loss of the majority of this green space. This short-sighted decision will have a negative impact on local people's wellbeing as well as wildlife and biodiversity.
'Treating Old Farm Park as a disposal asset to plug council budget holes and raise development revenue sets a terrible precedent. I completely support those residents, the Save our Old Farm Park action group and those from BNEF and Bexley Wildlife who are continuing their opposition to any proposed development.
'As the Green Mayor I would revise any plans for disposal of Green spaces, now proven to be so important for health, especially in a city with severe air pollution problems.'
